The BENDY: A modern comfort shoe

Dear Early Bird backers,

We are excited with our progress sourcing and producing the best and most comfortable shoe for you, our BENDY backers. Caroline visited the factory in Los Angeles this past week. We also have been diligently working on development of our proprietary footbed that will provide spectacular cushioning when you place your foot inside the shoe.

In the spirit of full transparency, after wear testing the BENDY, we learned that for ultimate comfort the footbed needed to have a small lip all the way around the perimeter which requires individual molds to be made for each size.  We originally thought we could die cut our footbed but since specific molds for each size are required, this added some extra time that we did not anticipate. This means we have a delay of a few weeks and your shoes should ship later in December, right before the holiday. We are attaching an image of the original footbed and the new one with the lip, side by side, so you can see the difference between the two.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. We are in this for the long run and wanted to make sure we do it right the first time. Please reach out to us if you have any questions.

Happy Halloween BENDY backers,

Thanks to those of you who have filled out your size survey from Backerkit. As of today we have 65% of our surveys completed. If you have not received your size survey please reply to this message so we can resolve quickly. If it is sitting in your inbox, get going girl friend!

Everything is falling into place nicely in our production cycle. We ordered our made-in-the USA shoe boxes recently. They are recycled, recyclable and bio-degradable. Surprisingly, this combination was not so easy to find. To us, all packaging should be this way, right? That said, it is good to know we found it in the great state of Colorado :)

The other really cool thing is that most shoe companies would ship a shoe box and a shipping carton, so you would get two boxes when your shoes arrived. In our case, the BENDY will come in one box that serves as the shoe box and the shipping carton. So we are reducing packaging by 50%. We look at every piece of our business through the lens of reducing the impact on the environment.

Here is a peek at the box artwork. We chose white print against a kraft colored box. We think this color combo has a modern vibe.
